Grassroots Recreational

(2015-2018)

Welcome to our U8 - U11 Grassroots Recreational Program, where young players are introduced to the joy of soccer and our Phoenix FC community. Designed for those stepping onto the field for the first time, or returning players, our program focuses on helping children discover a love for learning, sport, and teamwork.

Within a nurturing and supportive environment, players grow into themselves, develop their skills, and build confidence. As they progress, they forge strong friendships and gain valuable life lessons that will guide them on their journey. This program lays the foundation for future pathways into Grassroots Competitive, Youth Recreational, or Youth Competitive programs. Join us as we embark on this exciting adventure of growth, fun, and unforgettable memories.

Recreational Youth FAQ

Program Dates: Oct. 25 - Feb. 7
Recreational Youth programs will feature:
- 1x game per week
- 1x practice per week
Teams will compete in our local Phoenix FC league against other Phoenix FC teams within Sherwood Park.
U8-U9: Tuesday
U10-U11: Practice days are determined by Head Coach availability, and will be scheduled closer to season start.
Practices consist of “Cohort Training” sessions, led by the team’s Head Coach and supported by Phoenix FC technical staff.
U8-U9: Teams will practice at Millennium Place, and play at our Phoenix FC Facility in Sherwood Park.
U10-U11: Teams will practice and play at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park.
Sessions run ~55 minutes.

U8-U9: 5v5 Format (4v4 + Keepers)
U10-U11: 7v7 Format (6v6 + Keepers)
There is no post-season play for these age groups.
Uniforms (jersey, shorts, socks) are included with registration.
Please ensure your athlete has shinpads and appropriate footwear (non-studded soccer cleats are recommended at this level)
$100.00 for 4 hours required
The Volunteer Fee is refunded once the required (4) volunteer hours have been completed. This amount is not included in Program Costs and is charged as an extra fee.
