SHE CAN RISE
Thank you to all our attendees, sponsors, and our Keynote Speaker, Farkhunda Muhtaj, for making last weekend's International Women's Day Luncheon one to remember!
Farkhunda is an Afghan‑Canadian, professional female footballer with Calgary Wild FC, global changemaker, and humanitarian leader whose impact has been felt around the world - playing a critical role in the evacuation of the Afghanistan Youth Women’s National Football Team, demonstrating remarkable courage, strategic leadership, and compassion during a time of crisis.
The event also featured some prize draws, including a team-signed Calgary Wild jersey, and an on-field session with Farkhunda and a shoot-out on Phoenix FC Sporting Director, Bernie Soto!
A Day to Celebrate
March 8, 2026
This luncheon is more than an event — it’s a movement toward stronger, more inclusive communities where women and girls can rise, lead, and thrive.
Our on-going mission for Phoenix FC and our She Can Rise program, both on and off the pitch, is dedicated to uplifting women in all fields - providing a Network with leaders, athletes, community builders, and advocates; promoting engaging Keynote Speakers that moves, motivates, and inspires real action; supporting female visibility in sport and leadership at every level

More Than a Day of the Year
Phoenix FC: She Can Rise Program
Our mission is to identify and remove the barriers that our female leaders face, so that we can best encourage the development of experienced, confident and educated female coaches, who feel supported by their co-coaches, their club, and their community!
Our Goals
Network of Support and Mentorship
We aim to create a strong network of support and mentorship between the female coaches within our club, and further within the province.
Vibrant Learning Environment
We aim to create a vibrant learning environment that our female coaches are excited to be a part of, and feel value from the education and opportunities provided!
Junior Coaching Pathway
We extend this opportunity to our female junior coaches (aged 12-19) and help them find a pathway to stay involved in the sport in a capacity that fits their schedule and commitment level.
Community and Business Partnerships
We want to partner with our community and local businesses to create a network of mutual support for the female leaders, both in business and in sport!
Advance Female Coach Education
We aim to advance female coach education, through specialized scholarships and funds so we can provide a female head coach for every female Phoenix FC team!
