Field Closure Procedure
Outdoor Fields within Sherwood Park are maintained by Strathcona County. In case of severe weather, please refer to the field status link.
Strathcona County Fields:
If Field Status is showing “Closed”, there are no practices or games played on closed fields.
Reschedule Procedure: Sherwood Park
Reschedules will be issued by the Phoenix FC office.
Air Quality Health Index (AQHI)
(In-House) Sherwood Park AQHI:
For games and practices within Sherwood Park, please refer to the status link.
1-3: No changes, proceed as planned
4-6: Moderate changes, reduce activity time and increase water breaks
7+: Program is cancelled
For Practices Within Sherwood Park:
If the AQHI is 6 or lower, practices can go ahead. Coaches can still choose to cancel if they feel it's unsafe or players can choose to not attend based on their individual health conditions.
If the AQHI rises to 7 or higher while you're already on the field, all games and practices must stop right away.
Always use the current AQHI shown on the website, no matter when it was last updated.
For Games Within Sherwood Park:
If the AQHI is 6 or lower games can go ahead. Teams must show up to the field ready to play. Players can choose to not attend based on their individual health conditions.
If the AQHI rises to 7 or higher while you're already on the field, all games and practices must stop right away.
Always use the current AQHI shown on the website, no matter when it was last updated.
Reschedule Procedure: Sherwood Park
Any games requiring a reschedule due to AQHI will be handled by the Phoenix FC office.
When to Check - Sherwood Park:
Check the status of your game or practice an hour before your scheduled time.
Always use the most recent “Calculated at” time that is no more than two (2) hours before kickoff.
Example:
If your game is at 6:00pm and you check at 5:00pm, the site may show “Calculated at 4:00pm.”
In this case, you will use the 4:00pm AQHI reading to make your decision.
Important Reminders:
AQHI stations don’t always update every hour. You might see:
“Calculated at 3:00 PM”
“Calculated at 2:00 PM”
Or even “Calculated at 10:00 AM”
Always use the most recent “Calculated at” time that is no more than 2 hours before kickoff.
In case of potential disputes, it is recommended that coaches take a timestamped picture of the AQHI reading.
