Welcome to our Soccer Program for Introduction to the sport of soccer. We aim to make learning fun for players & families, focusing on building skills and a love for the game. Our special plan helps you learn by playing, so you can enjoy making mistakes, being creative, and becoming confident athletes.

Within a nurturing and supportive environment, players grow into themselves, develop their skills, and build confidence. As they progress, they forge strong friendships and gain valuable life lessons that will guide them on their journey. This program lays the foundation for future pathways into Grassroots Competitive, Youth Recreational, or Youth Competitive programs. Join us as we embark on this exciting adventure of growth, fun, and unforgettable memories.

Grassroots Foundations FAQ

  • U4-U5: 3x 5-Week Programs

    U6: 2× 7-Week Programs

    U7: Oct.-Feb. (14-Week Program)

    Phoenix FC Foundational programs will feature:

    • 1x session per week

  • Sessions run on Saturdays.

    U4-U5: Features station-based activities geared to building physical literacy and motor skills. Led by on-site Phoenix FC technical staff supported by parents.

    U6-U7: Features ½ training sessions and ½ small-sided-games, led by volunteer coaches and supported by on-site Phoenix FC technical staff.

  • Teams will compete locally against other Phoenix FC teams within Sherwood Park.

    At this age group, scores and standings are not kept.

  • All Phoenix FC Foundations (U4-U7) sessions will be at our Phoenix FC Facility in Sherwood Park

  • Grassroots Foundational programs feature the following playing formats:

    U4-U5: Station-based activities

    U6-U7: Small-Sided-Games (3v3, 4v4)

  • There is no post-season play for these age groups.

  • Uniforms (jersey, shorts, socks) are included with registration.

    Please ensure your athlete has shinpads and appropriate footwear (running shoes are acceptable at this level)

  • There is no volunteer bond for our Grassroots Foundations programs (U4-U7).
