Welcome to our U13-U19 Youth Recreational Program, where every player, whether stepping onto the field for the first time or continuing a journey they've loved for years, finds a place to grow and have fun. 

Here, within the supportive and vibrant community of Sherwood Park, players experience the joy of soccer while competing in a sportsmanlike way. Our program emphasizes teamwork, support, and encouragement, helping players develop their skills and love for the game in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Recreational Youth FAQ

  • Program Dates: April - June

    Recreational Youth programs will feature:

    • 1x game per week

    • 1x practice per week

    Sherwood Park Classic Tournament: May 21-24, 2026

    Alberta Soccer Provincials: July 3-5, 2026

  • Teams will compete in our local Phoenix FC league against other Phoenix FC teams within Sherwood Park.

    Please note: U15-U19 teams may need to participate in the Edmonton Minor Soccer (EMSA) League if a local league is not viable. An additional EMSA Registration Fee would be assessed as a Season Bond.

  • Recreational Youth programs play 1x game and 1x practice per week:

    • U13: Mondays and Wednesdays

    • U15: Tuesdays and Thursdays

    • U17: Sundays and Wednesdays

    • U19: Sundays and Wednesdays

    Practices are led by the team’s Volunteer Head Coach and supported by Phoenix FC technical staff on an “as-needed basis”. 

  • Teams will practice and play in Sherwood Park.

    Sessions run ~90 minutes.

    Please note: If U15-U19 teams are participating in the Edmonton Minor Soccer (EMSA) League, some games and practices will be outside of Sherwood Park.

  • Parents play a big role in our program, taking on the role of Head Coach, Assistant Coach, and/or Team Manager to contribute to the program's overall success.

    • All Coaches should complete all safe sport requirements prior to being rostered (coaching certification costs can be reimbursed).

    • Head Coaches will receive a honorarium should they volunteer to coach their child’s team and complete all mandated coaching requirements. 

    • Sessions will be provided each week by Tech Staff and are to be followed by all coaches. 

    • On Field support from our Technical Staff, Jr. Coaches, Jr. Tech and Program Director on an “as-needed basis”. 

  • Recreational Youth programs play the following game formats:

    • U13: 9v9 (8v8 + Keepers)

    • U15-U17: 11v11 (10v10 + Keepers)

  • Teams will be eligible for the Alberta Soccer Association (ASA) Provincial Championship (July 3-5, 2026)

  • Uniforms (jersey, shorts, socks) are included with registration. Other apparel can be purchased from our Adidas store.

    Please ensure your athlete has shinpads and appropriate footwear (running shoes are acceptable at this level)

  • $100.00 for 3 hours required

    The Volunteer Fee is refunded once the required (3) volunteer hours have been completed.

    This amount is not included in Program Costs and is charged as a Season Bond at the end of the volunteer season if requirements are not met.

  • Cancellations may occur due to severe weather, poor air quality and extreme heat. 

    We will try to reschedule when we can on the same days as much as possible, but it is not always guaranteed.

  • Balancing Session: April 11-12, 2026

    Launch Week: April 15-23 at Phoenix FC Facility

  • Monday/Wednesday

  • Minimum of 13 Players

  • $450.00 (Feb. 2 - Feb. 17)

  • $495.00 (Feb. 18 - Mar. 23)

  • Phoenix FC allows for installments of registration fees:

    Season Payment Plan:

    • Initial Payment: $200.00 (Program Fee Deposit)

    • Second Payment: $147.50 on April 15

    • Third Payment: $147.50 on May 15

U15 Youth Recreational (2011-2012) Boys + Girls Programs

  • Balancing Session: April 11-12, 2026

  • Tuesday/Thursday

  • Minimum of 16 Players

  • $460.00 (Feb. 2 - Feb. 17)

    EMSA League Fees: If teams are placed within the Edmonton Minor Soccer (EMSA) League, a $80.00 additional league fee will apply as a Season Bond.

  • $495.00 (Feb. 18 - Mar. 23)
