Great coaches are lifelong learners. At Phoenix FC, we believe the best coaching conversations begin with honest reflection. Our Volunteer Coach Self-Assessment provides coaches with an opportunity to evaluate their confidence, identify areas of strength, and highlight opportunities for growth across the key competencies of coaching.

Before completing the assessment, please make your own editable copy of the template by selecting File → Make a copy (or use the "Make a copy" option if provided in the shared link). This ensures your responses remain private and can be updated over time. Google Sheets also supports creating personal copies from shared templates.

Once you have completed your self-assessment:

1. Share your completed copy with your assigned Program Director.

2. Request a 20–30 minute mentorship conversation, either virtually or in person.

3. During the meeting, you and your Program Director will review your reflections, celebrate successes, discuss challenges, and identify practical next steps that will support your continued development throughout the season.

These mentorship conversations are intended to be collaborative rather than evaluative. Your Program Director is the technical leader you regularly interact with during cohort training, making them the ideal person to provide ongoing guidance, answer questions, and help you achieve your coaching goals.

By taking time to reflect and engage in meaningful coaching conversations, you are helping create a positive learning environment for yourself and, ultimately, a better experience for every player you coach.
