Why Phoenix FC? (What brought you here, what are your passions for the club)
Throughout the years, the club has supported me, nudged me in growth, and added to my confidence, education and skill. Richard Espinoza brought me onto the field in 2013, and Dhee Govender kept me coming back coaching year after year. Richard then brought me into the competitive program in 2019 as a part of his coaching staff, where I was able to learn bench management, game management, and deepen my understanding of the game. Payton Ross encouraged me to complete my C-License in 2022 and put forward my name for an All-Female pilot program with Canada Soccer, where I grew my soccer knowledge and sport relationships exponentially. Upon completion of my C-License, Bernie Soto took a chance on me and took me under his wing as a mentor. His mentoring in the academy style of coaching, as well as just overall coach education, added to my growth as a coach and allowed me to move into a technical role with the club, which led me to where I am today.
Having been with the club for over 10 years, I have had the opportunity to learn and grow with so many amazing coaches and each one of them added to my respect for the club, to the sport, and to the idea of empowering the coaches coming up in the club behind me. These coaches all encouraged me, mentored me, and supported me in my growth within Phoenix FC. Because of this, I am passionate about coach education, recruiting and reaching gender parity in our coaches, getting parents involved with their athletes at a young age, and helping them to build confidence, skill and a love of the game together as they both age up in the club.
