Welcome to our Soccer Program for Introduction to the sport of soccer. We aim to make learning fun for players & families, focusing on building skills and a love for the game. Our special plan helps you learn by playing, so you can enjoy making mistakes, being creative, and becoming confident athletes.

Within a nurturing and supportive environment, players grow into themselves, develop their skills, and build confidence. As they progress, they forge strong friendships and gain valuable life lessons that will guide them on their journey. This program lays the foundation for future pathways into Grassroots Competitive, Youth Recreational, or Youth Competitive programs. Join us as we embark on this exciting adventure of growth, fun, and unforgettable memories.

Grassroots Foundations FAQ

  • U4-U5 Tekkers: 2× 4-Week Programs (1x session per week)

    U5-U6: 8-Week Program (April-June) (2x sessions per week)

    U7: 8-Week Program (May-June) (2x sessions per week)

  • U4-U5 Tekkers: Features station-based activities geared to building physical literacy, motor skills and foundational soccer skills. Led by on-site Phoenix FC technical staff and supported by parents.

    U5-U7: Features ½ training sessions and ½ small-sided-games, led by volunteer parent coaches and supported by on-site Phoenix FC technical staff.

  • Teams will compete in our local Phoenix FC league against other Phoenix FC teams within Sherwood Park.

    At this age group, scores and standings are not kept.

  • U4-U5 Tekkers: Sessions will be Indoors at our Phoenix FC Facility in Sherwood Park

    U5-U6: Sessions will be in Sherwood Park, location TBD

    U7: Sessions will be in Sherwood Park, location TBD

  • Parents play a big role in our program, taking on the role of Game Leader, Head Coach, Assistant Coach, and/or Team Manager to contribute to the program's overall success.

    U5-U6 & U7 Coaching Requirements:

    • Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches are to complete all safe sport requirements prior to being rostered (coaching certification costs can be reimbursed). 

    • Head Coaches will receive a honorarium should they volunteer to coach their child’s team and complete all mandated coaching requirements.  

    • Sessions will be provided each week by Tech Staff and are to be followed by all coaches. 

    • On Field support from our Technical Staff, Jr. Coaches, Jr. Tech and Program Director will also be given at sessions. 

  • Grassroots Foundational programs feature the following playing formats:

    • U4-U5 Tekkers: Station-based activities

    • U5-U6: Small-Sided-Games (3v3)

    • U7: Small-Sided-Games (3v3, 4v4)

  • U4-U5 Tekkers: There is no post-season activity for this program

    U5-U6: Jamboree on June 6-7

    U7: Jamboree on June 6-7

  • Uniforms (jersey, shorts, socks) are included with registration.

    Other optional apparel is available to be purchased.

    Please ensure your athlete has shinpads and appropriate footwear (running shoes are acceptable at this level)

  • There is no volunteer fee for our Grassroots Foundations programs (U4-U7).

  • Cancellations may occur due to severe weather, poor air quality and extreme heat. 

    We will try to reschedule when we can on the same days as much as possible, but it is not always guaranteed.

TIMBITS U4-U5 Tekkers (2021-2022) Boys + Girls Mixed Programs

    • Sessions run 1x per week.

    Station-based activities geared to building physical literacy, motor skills and foundational soccer skills.

  • Program Dates: May – June

    • Session length is 50 minutes.

    • Sessions run 2x per week.

    ½ station-based training sessions and ½ small-sided-games

    You will have an option of:

    • Monday/Wednesday Sessions

    • Tuesday/ Thursday Sessions

    Session Times: 5:30pm-6:30pm at St. Theresa Field.

  • Minimum of 10 Players

  • $300.00 (Feb. 2 - Feb. 17)

  • $340.00 (Feb. 18 - Mar. 23)

  • Phoenix FC allows for installments of registration fees:

    Season Payment Plan:

    • Initial Payment: $190.00 (Program Fee Deposit)

    • Second Payment: $150.00 on April 15
